Hello bookworms! I was wondering this morning about the books that booktube made me read, and I decided to make a blog post out of it. Here are the books that I read because of watching (too much) booktube!
1. Anna And The French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins
This is actually the book that made me realize how much of an influence booktube had on me. Anna And The French Kiss is such a cheesy name, and with a cover as pink and cute-ish as that, I never would've picked it up by myself. However, literally everyone on booktube and bookstagram kept mentioning this book and saying only good things about it, so I decided to pick it up. A few months later, this book is now on my list of top 10 contemporaries I've ever read. Needless to say, I read the next 2 books in the series in less than a week...
2. Since You've Been Gone, by Morgan Matson
Here we have another book that I read strictly because of booktube. This goes along with the first book in this list. The cover is gorgeous, but somewhat cliché and very "teenagery" so I never thought I'd like it, until I heard so many great things about this book and Morgan Matson herself. I read this in about 2 sittings because it was just so good, and this book now figures amongst the same top 10 contemporaries I love with Anna And The French Kiss.
3. Divergent, by Veronica Roth
Not gonna lie, I had absolutely no intention of reading this book, because I half-expected that I would dislike it. And I kinda did. If you read this blog, you will know that I've had multiple blog posts up back in the days on why I disliked the book and why it wasn't for me, and it has nothing to do with the actual book. It is mostly because I was tired of the "badass female protagonist who feels that she needs to save the corrupted dystopian world" trope, and the writing in the book didn't help either. As to now, I've read the first two books, and I have no plans of reading Allegiant in the future.
4. The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson #1), by Rick Riordan
Did you read my last post? If you did, thank you. And you must know by now that I am in love with this series. I've rarely loved books and characters as much as I did while reading Percy Jackson. I am so glad booktube convinced me that this series wasn't for children at all and was actually action-packed, because otherwise, I would not have read this first installment.
5. Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1), by Marissa Meyer
Continuing on with the dystopian/fantasy/sci-fi books booktube miraculously convinced me to read, Cinder is one of them. If you know anything about me it's that I am very picky with my fantasy/sci-fi books, and I rarely love them. Although this book surprised me in very good ways, I was not in love with it and didn't find myself compelled to finish the series... So yeah, the next 3 books and the prequel will forever remain TBR.
Those were 5+ books that booktube made me read (and buy, sigh #RIPWallet). There are more books that I purchased because of booktube that I have yet to read, so this is a segment on my blog that will be back in a while. Thanks so much for reading,
