I've been wanting to put up a "new year" related blog post, and thought of this one after seeing many videos about this floating around Youtube. Although I don't have much time to read, I really want to squeeze these following books in my 2016 reading simply because I loved them so much!
1) Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins
This book was obvious, but I needed to put this book in here! I am still in a reading slump, and hopefully will be able to reread this soon and have it get me out of my slump. This romance was so entertaining and addicting, and I definitely look forward to crying over Étienne in bed with a cup of tea!
2) The Harry Potter series, by J.K. Rowling
Another obvious one, but I reread the series every year, so I don't see why I wouldn't do it this year! However, I usually start with book 3, simply to save time, and also because I didn't particularly like the second book.
3) Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell
Another new favourite of mine and definitely a comfort read, Carry On was so cute and refreshing. It brought back the memories from Harry Potter but also a "Drarry" type of romance and it was just such a fun read! I'm keeping this book for the summer.
4) The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde
A classic that I've read this summer, and unfortunately did not enjoy as much as I wish I would. However, because I think I read this book in the summer (which to me is time for romance books), I was not totally into the book and felt myself not focused at all. I really hope to give this book another go, because to me it's almost tragic when I don't like a classic!
5) Rebels: City of Indra, by Kendall and Kylie Jenner
Alright, hold your horses and let me explain this one. I originally bought the book because it was on sale and I was interested to see what it would be. However, I sadly couldn't get past page 39 because of the countless characters and dull plot line. I really hope to reread, or try to read I should say, this book again, mostly because I'm sure it actually is better than I think.
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. I have been trying to vary the titles I put in my lists, because I know I get really repetitive at times! I wish everyone a great new year and a great reading year!
Thanks so much,
