Cheap books : someone we all look for. Being an avid reader and book collector, owning books is a must. If someone asks you why you don't "borrow your books from the library", they're wrong and you should ignore them. All jokes aside, as much as I love libraries, nothing beats having my own personal one. Over the years, I have definitely learned how to save money on books, so I'll share my tricks today!
1) Thrift Stores
Easy one, pretty obvious I must say. I have the chance of living close to a thrift store that also sells books, and I go there once a week, not gonna lie. Thrift stores always have new stock, and if you think that you won't find anything, it's not true! I have thrifted the entire Kane Chronicles, Harry Potter series, perfect hard covers and also classics. If you don't have a thrift store close to you, you can definitely find smaller used book stores.
Oh how I hate myself for telling you to do this, but it's true. I am 100% for going into a physical book store and browse, but prices tend to be a lot cheaper online. Amazon, the Book Depository, Indigo, Barnes and Nobles... Just browse.
3) ALWAYS check
See, this is another thing that I do. Before going to bed, I like to go on Indigo's online store to check their sales. There are always sales on amazing books. Recently, Eleanor and Park was on sale, but I got ToG and CoM for as low as 5$ each, and many other books. Plus, you get points, and with points come money...for more books.
4) Library book sales
I don't know how many of you have these, but my local library and YMCA both hold annual book sales, mainly on classics. I have bought an entire classics box set for 3$, and plan on going again. You just have to keep an eye on their events!
These are my four top tips for the moment. I know there are many other ways you can get cheap, even free books, but I just found these four ways to be more accessible to everyone. I hope it helps! It has definitely helped me, because honestly, if I didn't buy books this way, I'd have 0.5% of my current book collection...
