I actually know that 90% of the population will hate me for this, but I will not be finishing the Divergent series.
I finished Insurgent this morning, and it was enjoyable. But that's all I can say about this book. I rarely read fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian, unless the reviews are very very good. Harry Potter is another story though... I mean you can't dislike Harry Potter. However, the feeling I had after reading Insurgent was the same I had after I finished Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins. I loved the first book in both series, and was actually excited to read the second one. And it left me disappointed, to the point where I was actually scared to read the rest of the series, in case I was even more disappointed. I was less and less attracted to the characters, and felt less compelled to read their stories or to know whether or not they would survive. The attachment I had for them in Divergent just went away in Insurgent, and I know that I will literally not care if I read Allegiant.
Also, someone spoiled Allegiant for me, which totally sucks because now that I know what happens (and I'm not sure I want to read about it now), I have even less motivation to finish the series...
I gave Divergent a 4/5 stars on Goodreads, and 3/5 stars for Insurgent.
This is my opinion only, and honestly, Roth is an amazing writer with incredible ideas. Those ideas just don't fit my taste in books I guess.
I'm currently reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and AAAHH!!!!!
Bye guys, hope you enjoyed this random blog post!
